IRL most European trucks are now automatic so for ETS 2 if you're looking for realism then auto would be the way to go, there are manual trucks in Europe too but they are older models and manufacturers are now providing Auto gearboxes as standard issue for the auto retarder and auto engine braking instead? thanks
If you have automatic retarder enabled and are using cruise control, the retarder will slow you down when you exceed whatever the cruise control is set to. This is really helpful when going downhill for example. Dnkndonuts-- • 3 yr. ago Is it similar to the air brakes? secretsauce007 • KENWORTH • 3 yr. ago In a way.

As far as I know suspension stiffness and truck stability have values between 0 and 1. 0 is the most realistic settings but it defaults to 1 so it works with keyboard and mouse, since digital acceleration and braking would just make the cabin wobble all over the place. So yes it should be all the way down. Walo00.

hi! so on my logi g27 setup with the sim dashboard app alongside it, i'm still running out buttons for easily accessible features. as of now my retarder is set up on the tablet running sim dashboard but its difficult to get to while managing everything else. plus its kinda delayed so i tend to apply some a certain amount when prepping for the off-ramp but then i have to frantically tap the

Re: Jake brake in ATS. #2 by Max » 18 Nov 2022 00:33. every engine in game has engine brake. only the newer or europe-based engines might have bit different setting. if you take transmission without retarder it wont affect the engine brake functionality in any way. control style is also independent on both engine and retarder and autoretarder doesn't do nothing, no work, after latest 1.44.1.10 update. Automatic engine brake doesn't work as well. For example i cruise @ 60, lowering cruise to 50 the retarder does not kick in anymore. Set the engine brake or retarder on automatic, and they are controlled by the brake paddle. ↳ 18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker 2; ↳ Euro Truck Simulator

Originally posted by scugnizzo89: Each truck has 2 braking modes, one is the classic air brake (the one you naturally use with the down arrow key), the other is the retarder. Since using air brake reduces the amount of air (once is finished, you have to stop the truck, put the neutral and accelerate in order to refill it), the retarder lets you

At first I thought it was a steep hill and a heavy load, but even on a flat surface it was slowing me down, so I pulled over to the side of the highway.

Euro Truck Simulator 2. You have probably set the "automatic retarder" just remove it in the options and you will be fine #14. Outlaw Trucker. Jan 16, 2018 @ 1
I actually love cruise control and retarder so much and use them extensively. I adjust the cruise control step by using the mouse wheel and rely on automatic retarder (I should map the keys to a better location though) but for some reason, I've never used realistic fuel consumption with this setup. I should definitely give it a try.
