I am stuck between the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro and AKG K-702 (or K-612) I currently own a pair of Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80 ohm connected to a fiio k3 dac/amp that I use for mixing film audio and music listening. I want to use the open backs for the same thing. The reason for this is mainly that I want to try the open back sound experience.
Because of my usecase I am leaning towards the DT 990 PRO's. Amazon currently sells a 'limited-edition' (highly doubt it's actually limited edition but I prefer the look of the black ones and they're both 139euros), a black edition of the DT 990 PRO's in 250ohm, thinking of getting those in combination with the Sound BlasterX G6.

Dt880 has a totally different sound than the 770 or the 231; much more revealing on the high end and deeper, yet less impactful bass. Rest assured, the 880 has a very large soundstage; it slaughters the senn 595 in this respect. Haven't heard the 990, came real close to getting it though!!

I like the stereo field of the Beyerdynamic dt 770s, but the Sennheiser HD 280 pros have a better sub response, are more accurate, and the cable is more manageable so I use those. I’m looking at getting a set of Beyerdynamic DT 700 pros in the near future so hopefully that’s the best of both worlds. BKXRloo.
