Haven ridden both 27.5+ and 29+ (2.8 and 3.0 tires on both) on both hardtails and rigid, here's my take. At 6'3" I overall prefer 29+, especially now in AZ and in rigid mode. Much better rollover and helps eat up a lot of real rocky/chunky terrain.

FWIW I've been riding 29 x 2.6 now for a few months now. Coming from 27.5+ x 2.8 I am finding a few subtle differences. Handling is much more crisp with the 29er. Roll over control on technical sections is superior. The only areas I am struggling with is roots and rock slab climbing.
