Find some flat, level pavement next to a wall. With the nose of the Focus 25 feet from the wall and facing it squarely, measure from the ground to headlight center, (usually the chrome bulb cap inside the housing). Note that measurement, because you're going to mark the wall with tape horizontally at that height, minus two inches.

The most common fail area will commonly be the one most exposed to the elements, ergo, the connector right at the headlight, after that go for any stuffed in a corner to not get cooling air to it. Typically the pins in a headlight connector can give trouble.
